Accessibility at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

10 Dec, 2024 | NEWS | 0 comments

Did you know that ZICLA was present at the Olympic Games held in Paris this past summer?

No, the ZICLA team hasn’t turned into Olympic athletes—not by a long shot. We remain dedicated to developing mobility solutions to create safer, more accessible, and inclusive cities. However, during the summer of 2024, we had the opportunity to participate in this global event from a different perspective.

The Transformation of Paris for the Olympic Games.

In July 2024, Paris became the world’s sports epicenter. As the host of the Olympic Games, the city faced significant challenges and opportunities for urban development. Recognized as a benchmark for sustainable mobility, the French capital seized this occasion to double down on its efforts to promote people-centered, environmentally friendly transportation.

Among the key aspects of its preparations, ensuring accessibility to sports venues took center stage. It was here that we were able to contribute with our innovative solutions.

The Vectorial® system: Tailor-Made Solutions for Temporary Events.

The Olympic organizers installed Vectorial® system bus platforms at various strategic points in the city along bus routes transporting athletes and spectators to different sports venues. These platforms stand out as a reversible and adaptable solution, ideal for large-scale temporary events like the Olympic Games. Their ease of installation, removal, transportation, and storage makes them a perfect alternative that avoids major construction work and minimizes disruptions to urban traffic during installation and dismantlement.

An iconic example was the installation at the Grand Palais, which served as a temporary sports venue. Our platforms provided accessible and comfortable boarding and disembarking for both athletes and spectators.

Circular Economy and Eco-Design.

A standout feature of this project was its forward-looking planning. Once the event concluded, the platforms were dismantled, and the modules used in their construction were recovered for reuse in new projects. This product-as-a-service approach was made possible thanks to the modular design of the Vectorial® system.

From the outset, the design of the bus platforms aimed to maximize durability, reversibility, reuse, and adaptability to different environments. This reflects our commitment to the circular economy and developing solutions aligned with the needs of a constantly changing world.

At ZICLA, we strive to ensure that innovative solutions address today’s challenges and contribute to a shift toward a more sustainable future.
