Under the theme “Choosing Our Future”, from March 27th to 30th Washington DC will be hosting the yearly National Bike Summit. As the Bike League, the organizers of the event stated: “as 2021 has presented individuals and institutions with a host of transformational opportunities, there are many choices ahead about how the bike movement can shape the future for the next generation, from climate change to racial equity. With anticipated big wins for investments in biking infrastructure ahead, now is the time to do the work of engaging with new partners, uplifting underserved communities, and ensuring we build networks on the ground and among movements”.
ZICLA is proudly sponsoring the National Bike Summit since 2016.
This year apart from sponsoring the event, ZICLA team will be attending it, and we will have a physical and a virtual stand. Moreover, participants will have the opportunity to visit some of our recent installations in Washington DC in one of the bike rides organized by the DC Cycling Concierge.
Since 2005, we have supported cities in the transformation process they need so they can meet the challenges of the 21st century. We work to make cycling mobility safer and to make cities’ streets more accessible to all citizens. And we do all this by creating products manufactured using the waste generated by the cities themselves.
We consider that the mission and the vision of the League of American Bicyclists and the purpose of the National Bike Summit are in line with ZICLA’s. The League states on its website: “for generations past and to come, THE LEAGUE, represents bicyclists in the movement to create safer roads, stronger communities, and a Bicycle Friendly America. Through education, advocacy, and promotion, we work to celebrate and preserve the freedom cycling brings to our members everywhere”. This is why we consider it is a good idea to support this kind of events and associations.
