In 2016, the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) began a project called Bicivia, a network of metropolitan bike lanes designed to connect the metropolitan area from north to south and west to east in a fast, safe, direct way.
The stretch between Esplugues de Llobregat and Barcelona has been operational since March 2018 and it is one of the principal and most successful stretches of this cycling infrastructure. Last but not least, this section has been segregated with our Zipper system.
The success of this stretch has been demonstrated by the fact that, three months after the infrastructure was set up, 73,698 bikes have been ridden on it (752 bikes per day). This is a great incentive for the AMB to continue working on this kind of project to achieve its objective of connecting the metropolitan area of Barcelona with cycling infrastructure, as well as reducing atmospheric pollution and improving air quality.
