We got on our bikes last Friday, October 4th, to participate in a Bike Tour around Barcelona.
Objective of the Bike Tour
The main goal of this activity was for the entire ZICLA team to explore the city’s cycling infrastructure firsthand and become, at least for one day, active users of the city’s bike lanes. This practical approach is crucial in designing products that meet cyclists’ needs and help improve their daily experience.
Key Findings
During the ride, we observed several critical aspects of Barcelona’s cycling network:
- More users: The number of urban cyclists and bike lane usage has significantly increased in recent years, reflecting growing awareness of the benefits of sustainable mobility and greater accessibility to the cycling network.
- Infrastructure maintenance: Some cycle lanes in Barcelona that have been installed for a long time highlight the importance of conducting regular reviews and maintaining the cycling infrastructure in good condition to ensure their safety and effectiveness.
- Durability of our products: We are proud to see that many of the products we’ve installed in Barcelona in the last 15 years, such as the Zebra Family® cycle lane separators, Zipper® modular traffic lane dividers, or Vectorial® bus platforms, are still performing perfectly after several years in use.
The Bike Tour served as a powerful reminder of our commitment to enhancing safe cycling and public transport infrastructure. It reaffirmed our belief that these are fundamental to creating safer, more accessible, and inclusive cities. This is why we strive daily to enhance them, by listening to users and designing innovative products that meet their needs.
