From 14th to 17th of June, the City of Ljubljana (Slovenia) hosted the 2022 Velo-City conference with the slogan “Cycling the Change”. The event was organized by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) and the City of Ljubljana.
It was a week full of knowledge exchange, policy transfer, and fun. Attendants were able to tackle issues and enrich their knowledge on the following themes: rethinking urban spaces, policies for more cycling, green tourism, urban mobility innovation, and the point of view of the citizens, stakeholders, and community.
We were able to perceive a great enthusiasm to change the way we understand mobility, promote active mobility, and make our cities and surroundings more people-oriented.
Proud to be into the final of the Smart Pedal Pitch.
During the congress, there was a competition to introduce the most innovative ideas that could be applied to the cycling infrastructure in Ljubljana in the near future. ZICLA presented the Vectorial® system applied to the solution of the conflict among bikes and citizens when bike lanes and bus stops coincide. ZICLA achieved second place and will have an excellent opportunity to make a pilot project in the city.
ZICLA as a sponsor of the Velo-City conference.
In ZICLA we are committed to sponsoring this kind of events. We consider that we share the main values of the conference as well as the ECFs. Since 2005, we have supported cities in the transformation process they need so they can meet the challenges of the 21st century. We work to make cycling mobility safer and to make cities’ streets more accessible to all citizens. And we do all this by creating products manufactured using the waste generated by the cities themselves.
We want to congratulate the ECF for the great organization of the event; and to the City of Ljubljana for hosting us and because of its involvement in the event.
To sum up, it has been a very enriching experience, and we hope to attend the 2023 edition in the City of Leipzig (Germany), which will be our third participation at the Velo-City conference.
