| PROJECT NAME: | Tactical pacification of the N-150 road. |
| DATE: | June 2025. |
The Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB), in collaboration with the municipalities of Cerdanyola del Vallès and Ripollet, has launched a project to pacify the N-150 road along the section that runs through these two municipalities, to improve sustainable mobility and road safety. The project incorporates new segments into Bicivia, the metropolitan cycling network, transforming these spaces into more accessible spaces for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users, while also introducing a dedicated bus lane.
Project needs and objectives.
This project, framed within what is known as tactical urbanism, includes actions that are easily reversible, should it be necessary to return to the original configuration.
The following actions have been carried out as part of the project:
- Creation of a bus lane towards Barcelona to promote the use of public transport.
- Implementation of two one-way lateral bike lanes in several segments to improve cycling mobility.
- Extension of sidewalks to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility.
- Improved accessibility for pedestrians in areas where the bike lane coincides with bus stops.
- Redesign of intersections to ensure the efficient operation of the avenue.
Together, these measures transform this section of the N-150 into a more accessible and pacified road, allowing for safe and efficient travel between municipalities.
Proposed solution.
As part of the tactical pacification project of the N-150, the relocation and reinstallation of Vectorial® bus platforms, carried out by the AMB, plays a key role in ensuring better integration of public transport within the new urban mobility environment.
Previously, two Vectorial® bus platforms already installed along this road. Within the new project, they have been relocated and reinstalled quickly and easily thanks to their modular design. Both now incorporate Pointer® Flex vertical traffic delineators, which are integrated to maximize the visibility of the platform and reinforce safety.
In addition, as part of the overall transformation of the corridor, the AMB has installed four new Vectorial® bus platforms with integrated cycle lane. These new platforms also incorporate Pointer® Flex vertical traffic delineators, which are integrated to maximize their visibility for all road users.
The platforms are fitted with ramps to road level, allowing safe coexistence between bike lane users and public transport passengers. They also include modules with warning and directional surfaces, in compliance with universal accessibility standards.
The lateral bike lanes are protected with Zebra Family® cycle lane separators, offering a safer and more comfortable journey for cyclists.
With this set of interventions, the AMB continues to advance its goal of transforming the Carretera N-150 into a future metropolitan avenue, as outlined in the Plan Director Urbanístico Metropolitano (PDUM), creating safe and connected spaces that promote active mobility between the municipalities of Montcada, Cerdanyola del Vallès, Ripollet, and Barberà del Vallès.
