Measures implemented included the upgrade of public lighting and urban trees, the construction of wider sidewalks and ADA-compliant pedestrian crossings, as well as the creation of protected bike lanes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Project objectives<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the comprehensive renewal of 7<sup>th<\/sup> Street, the City of St. Louis promoted the implementation of protected bike lanes with the aim of:<br><br>\u2022 Creating a safer, well-connected, and user-friendly cycling network in the city center, effectively separating bicycle and micromobility traffic (PMDs) from motorized traffic.<br><br>\u2022 Promoting active mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Proposed solution<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of St. Louis decided to install an on-street bike lane and chose<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/en\/zebra-family\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/zebra-family\/\"> Zebra Family<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> cycle lane separators to protect it from motorized traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This installation helped organize the different modes of transport along the street, resulting in increased safety for cyclists and other micromobility users within the bike lane, as well as for pedestrians on the sidewalks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Zebra02_Cam01_V2-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"city of st. louis\" class=\"wp-image-51968\" title=\"\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">oblique configuration.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Zebra Family<strong><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong> cycle lane separators were installed in an oblique configuration to increase the distance between motorized traffic and bike lane users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A collaborative project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transformation of 7<sup>th<\/sup> Street was made possible through a public-private partnership bringing together the City of St. Louis with foundations, organizations, and local companies committed to making 7<sup>th<\/sup> Street a more people-friendly street and, ultimately, a more attractive place for citizens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LOCATION: City of St. Louis, MO, US.
