Jo\u00e3o II, Alfredo Barros and dos Lus\u00edadas as well as its connection with Minho University.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Project requirements and objectives.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>With an investment of three million euros, funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/growth\/tools-databases\/regional-innovation-monitor\/policy-document\/norte-2020-norte%E2%80%99s-regional-operational-programme-2014-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Regional Norte Operational Programme &#8211; NORTE2020<\/a>, the project will improve pedestrian traffic conditions in the city through a series of different actions.<br \/>\nAs part of the project, new pedestrian crossings were created, roundabouts were redesigned and measures were taken to calm traffic on the streets in order to humanise the public space.<br \/>\nThese measures will help reduce car ownership in the city and promote greener, friendlier and more sustainable modes of travel.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the interventions that will allow for more sustainable movement of people were: the comprehensive renovation of pavements, the construction of a bicycle lane, the creation of accesses for people with reduced mobility, and the rezoning and reinforcement of public lighting.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Proposed solution.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-21908 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Zebra9_Zero.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"165\" title=\"\">The proposed solution for the \u201cVariante da Encosta\u201d included the construction of seven kilometres of cycle lanes connecting it to Minho University, with 20,000 m<br \/>\n<sup>2<\/sup> of accessible trails and a cycle lane segregated with ZICLA<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/familia-zebra\/\">Zebra<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> 9 | Zero<br \/>\n<\/a> separators on Avenida D.
