Bicycle boulevards.<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are the different types of bike lanes that many cities are already implementing to pacify their streets and, thus, <strong>generate an exclusive space for users of bicycles and other personal mobility vehicles. <\/strong>The aim is to get more people to replace their motorized vehicles with more sustainable ways of transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each case is different, depending on the city, street, engagement of the local community, modal share, etc. This means that <strong>the infrastructure<\/strong> for bikes and micromobility vehicles <strong>must adapt to each scenario.<\/strong> Some of these infrastructures are described below: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1-types-of-protected-bike-lanes\">1. Types of protected bike lanes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A protected bike lane is separated from motor traffic and from the pavement by <strong>bike lane separators<\/strong> <strong>or another physical barrier<\/strong>. It provides a space to be exclusively or primarily used by bikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"one-way-protected-bike-lanes\" style=\"font-size:25px\">One-way protected bike lanes.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/project\/rehabilitacion-de-la-variante-da-encosta-en-el-municipio-de-braga\/\"><img parking lane, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/en\/zebra-family\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/zebra-family\/\">bike lane separators<\/a> or another barrier between the bike lane, the motor vehicle lane, and the pavement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It is a protected space for cyclists to improve comfort and safety.<\/li><li>It eliminates the risk and fear of collisions with overtaking vehicles.<\/li><li>It makes parking on the cycle lane difficult, unlike an unprotected cycle lane.<\/li><li>It is more attractive to a wider cross-section of the community than unprotected bike lanes.<\/li><li>It costs little to implement as it uses the existing pavement and drains, as well as the parking lane or other low-cost physical barrier for traffic data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/zipper\/\">bike lane separators<\/a>, and allow for two-way traffic on one side of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On one-way streets, it reduces the number of cyclists riding in the opposite direction to the traffic by providing a lane in which to do so safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons They turn a one-way street into a two-way street: one way for motor vehicles and bikes, the other way for bikes only. . These types of lanes must run on the left of the road, so that cyclists ride on the right, and must be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/en\/zebra-family\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.zicla.com\/zebra-family\/\">segregated by cycle lane separators<\/a> or other physical barrier. Raised bike lanes can be one-way or two-way. They therefore: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Provide a greater distance between motor vehicles and cyclists.<\/li><li>Offer space for cyclists to overtake another cyclist without invading the adjacent motor vehicle lane.<\/li><li>When the cycle lane runs alongside parked cars, the <em>buffer<\/em> zone prevents cyclists from travelling through the door-opening zone of these vehicles.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-the-30-zone-street\">3. Traffic speed is restricted to 30km\/h. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This solution is possible when traffic intensity is low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"4-the-bike-lane-on-the-pavement\">4. Cycle lanes running along the pavement are usually marked with paint and do not have a physical barrier. Planters or other visual vertical furniture are advisable, however, to segregate the different uses of the pavement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are the traffic areas where pedestrians can use all of the traffic area and have priority on the entire road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fe48e5de wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-50 has-custom-font-size is-style-fill has-medium-font-size\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background\" style=\"border-radius:20px;background-color:#288337\"><strong>View project example<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"5-bicycle-boulevards\">5.
